FAQs
This is a high altitude weekend! What do I need to know?
Telluride is at a pretty high elevation, so you’ll probably feel some effects of the altitude while you’re here! Altitude affects everyone differently - for us we just get out of breath more easily, but we have a friend who gets very nauseous every ski trip. You might also notice a headache or excessive tiredness.
Some tips for acclimating and feeling your best this weekend:
Plan to RELAX the day you arrive. You’ll acclimate faster and have milder symptoms.
Drink a LOT of water, preferably with electrolytes. You lose water much faster than you realize in the thin air up here!
Use sunscreen and chapstick!
Alcohol tends to have greater effect (mostly because of dehydration, again drink lots of water!). Some people say one drink at altitude = 2 or 3 drinks at sea level.
Some people like to use oxygen or pre-travel medications like acetazolamide (Diamox). Talk to your PCP about medications if you’re interested. Oxygen bars are available around town. (We’ve personally never used either of these.)
Be careful if taking sleep medications and benzodiazepines which may lower your blood oxygen levels. If you’re taking these medications, we’d recommend talking to your doctor before this trip!
The ideal thing to do to acclimate would be to fly into a mid-elevation area like Denver and road trip (see our road trip tips). This is a long but beautiful drive!

Can I bring a plus one?
As our space is limited, we can only accommodate the guests we formally included on our wedding invitations. You can check your wedding invitation or use the RSVP link on this website to see if we were able to give you a plus one.
Are children welcome?
Our ceremony and reception will be adults only! If you’re looking for childcare, check out Telluride Sitters.
Should I rent a car?
You probably won’t need to if you’re flying into Montrose Airport! Check out our Travel & Stay page for full details on getting around and deciding whether or not to rent a car.
What will the weather be like?
Telluride tends to have highs in the 70s at this time of year, and drops to lows in the high 40s and 50s at night. Our ceremony and reception are on the mountaintop which stays cooler than the town. Mid-day showers are common and it’s entirely possible we’ll get some drizzle on our outdoor ceremony - we will have umbrellas available and a shelter for if it really rains.
Overall we recommend packing layers and a rain jacket for weekend activities, and bringing a sweater or coat to our reception which will end late at night when the mountaintop is quite chilly!
Any tips on attire for the ceremony and reception?
The ceremony is a few minutes’ walk from the gondola along a gravel path, so plan shoes accordingly.
I need to change/check my RSVP, help!
You can check or change your RSVP at any time by clicking the RSVP link at the top right of our site!
p.s. the pic at the top of this page is at Painted Wall in Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park, which is about an hour and a half north of Telluride. This is a gorgeous national park that really flies under the radar, and is worth visiting if you have time for a road trip. Our first time visiting Telluride was on this road trip (hence the hat)!
